New Safety Sign Standards - ISO 7010

ISO 7010 Safety Sign Standards

ISO 7010 Overview

ISO 7010 will shortly be the accepted safety sign standard across Europe and will automatically be implemented by all member countries of the European Union.

The new graphical symbols will be required to be used and displayed in all work and public places. This will ensure the same symbol will be used across all EU countries making it easier and simpler to identify the safety message regardless of the national language in each country.

We are implementing the approved new standards on all our signs now and will continue to do so as more new symbols come into effect. Where the new standards have not yet come into force, we will continue to use the accepted British Standard BS 5499.

One of the main issue companies face is with Emergency Escape signage, as there was a temporary adoption of the EC Directive signage, which unfortunately  resulted in confusion. These signs are no longer a valid option and we strongly advise that you change any of these signs for the new ISO 7010 standard as soon as possible in order to comply with the regulations.

Once the ISO 7010 standards are finalised, they will become EN 7010, which changes its status from a recommended standard to the Standard written without alteration into all European Countries law. This will make the display of these symbols a legal requirement.
